Tap Relay — Getting started and troubleshooting

What is Tap Relay?

Tap Relay turns your Flic 2 Bluetooth button into a one-tap webhook trigger. Press the button, and the app instantly fires an HTTPS POST to the endpoint you configure. No hub needed — just your iPhone and a cell signal.

Getting Started

1

Get a Flic 2 Button

You'll need a Flic 2 Bluetooth button. Tap Relay does not work with the original Flic 1.

2

Scan Your QR Code

Your service provider or admin will give you a QR code containing your webhook configuration. Tap Scan QR on the dashboard to scan it. This sets up your webhook URL, credentials, and button pairing in one step.

3

Pair Your Button

After scanning, tap Pair Button. Press and hold your Flic button for 6 seconds until the LED blinks. The app will discover and connect to it.

4

Test It

Once connected, tap Send Test on the dashboard. You should see a delivery confirmation in the event log. You're all set.

Understanding the Dashboard

Connection Status

Connected — Button is paired and active
Searching — Looking for your button (stay within ~15 feet)
Disconnected — Button not found; tap Reconnect

Event Log

Shows your recent button presses with timestamps and delivery status. Each entry includes the click type (single, double, or hold) and whether the webhook was delivered successfully.

Click Types

Your Flic button supports three actions, each sent as a different event to your webhook:

Manual Setup

If you don't have a QR code, you can configure the webhook manually:

  1. Go to Settings in the app
  2. Enter your webhook URL (must be HTTPS)
  3. Enter your auth token and client ID
  4. Tap Save

Troubleshooting

Button won't pair
Webhook not delivering
Button disconnects frequently
App not responding in background
How to clear my data

Go to Settings in the app and tap Clear All Data. This removes your webhook credentials from Keychain and deletes all event history. Your button will also be unpaired.
